After attending a drumming circle at a healthcare activist conference I had to have one for myself. This drum kit seemed like the perfect intro for me.Since I have Multiple Sclerosis, I'm always open to ways to relieve stress and while enjoying myself or through meditative practices. While drumming itself is not going to heal you, it will help relieve the body of built up frustrations and stress. And, in my opinion, use the drums vibrations to bring positive energy into your body. I think most people know the negative effect stress has on our bodies.After spending a half hour to an hour drumming I feel so good and happy. I'm drumming almost everyday and finding myself drumming on all sorts of things throughout the day without even realizing it!If you doubt drumming makes you happy, take a good look at the drummer of any band. Who is the happiest looking band member? The drummer of course.I have wanted to learn drumming for years now and this drum is the way for me to do it. The drum is small, the cards are great and the tape to practice with is even better. I just listen to the 2nd CD to get a feel for what I may be able to chime in with soon.The ink from the drum is spotty and if it wasn't there at all, it would be ok.I'm learning with a drum circle and they are great ppl who show me beats and don't expect me to be perfect. I plan on learning how to use it to accompany belly dancers and to continue on with the drum circle. It's fun and portable-i have a nice denim bag to carry it in , so it goes easily where I take it. You fit right in and drummers are all to happy to have another newbie join.I recommend it for the beginner, the sound is not deep and the drum is small. when I get better, I will buy a larger drum, you may want one to begin with as you'll get tired of the tones on this small drum. But then again, I'm totally new and really have no set practice yet-so, all in all, it does what I need.I believe that purchasing this fabulous well-put-together kit, was so worth it! I never have played drums, nor did I think that I had the talent to do so!I have been interested in the effects of music, and healing,for some time now,and when I saw this kit mentioned in a recent woman's world magazine article, I decided to give it a try,and purchase it! Wow! it certainly exceeded my expectations! The #1 CD is SO well done...so thorough, AND relaxing! Some nights, I just LISTEN to the CD to RELAX, without even picking up my drum!The #2 CD is fun, lively,and informative,as it gives both info.on world-drumming styles, plus great music to play along to! The CD's alone, are teriffic,but of course, the kit also includes a very well written and easy-to-follow guide book,PLUS, a set of cards that you can use with or without the CD's for your playing enjoyment. The final item, the drum is quite nice, sounds great, and can be easily transported to wherever you wish to take it....so convenient! I am VERY IMPRESSED with this kit, and for the price, it IS a great little investment. Kuddos to Christine Stevens! The neatest thing though, is I became a drummer!I play along with the music, and sound quite decent, for a novice! PLUS, knowing this had a direct{positive} effect on my health, and well being, makes me want to keep playing all the more! Who knows? Maybe drumming will be the new "Red Wine" for health! Instead of a nightly glass of Rose', one can grab their drum, and play away !!!!I have wanted to try drumming for a long time but even a small standard size drum set was more than I wanted to deal with. When I saw the Healing Drum Kit advertised I thought it looked just right. And it is. The hand drum is easy to hold and the sound is really pleasing. (But not too loud, so you can practice without bothering other people.) THe drum takes up so little space you can leave it out if you want to, and therefore it is no big deal to reach for it when you want to drum. The instructions are clear and fun to follow. I am having a great time with the drum kit and have even signed up for my first drumming circle because of it.I bought this kit because I have positive memories of a Health Rhythms drum circle that visited my school years ago, and I haven't found any similar drum circles located nearby. Obviously drumming alone isn't going to be exactly the same as drumming with a group, but I think this kit contains some valuable tools. I had already been synthesizing a personal wellness practice that draws from many sources, and this is a great addition to my practice. I wouldn't recommend depending on this alone for good mental health, but using it to supplement what I was already doing is working out well for me.This is wonderful! I purchased this so I could learn to play a frame drum for healing and spiritual edification. This kit is helping me to accomplish this. The drum is beautiful, light weight, and easy to play. The book, CD, and cards are a great combination of tools from which to learn. This program is laid out so that it is easy to understand. I have NO previous experience or training, yet I feel comfortable and successful as I learn with this kit. The drum kit far exceeded my expectations. It was developed by someone who truely understands the drum and how to teach others to play it.What a great intro to the drumming "world" complete with a very nice drum. I've listened to her CD included which presents the beats and gives an opportunity to play along. There is a booklet included and cards describing the different tempos you play with each CD "song". I really, really like it and think that it's an excellent way to incorporate healing into my life. Thanks so much Christine for sharing this.
