Rina Liv was my next door neighbor in Southern California. Little did I know how much pain, suffering and sorrow her life had dealt her. Most of us know when our birthday is. Most of us do not suffer abuse at the hands of those family members who should be our protectors. Most of us do not have a mother who tells us that she should have thrown us overboard when she had the chance. This book is an intimate look at the details and many horrors that Rina experienced while trying to find herself in the chaos. It is the story of a beautiful and intelligent woman who found a path, with God by her side, to recognize in herself that she is an extraordinary woman who has worked hard so that she may help others. She is a woman who loves children and has found a way to share her love with her adopted family and help others in her homeland. She has found that she is worthy to love and be loved in return. Rina has suffered greatly in her life but has found a way to rise above her past, sometimes with setbacks, and find a life that shines brightly and is a testament to God's love, no matter what you may have experienced in your life that wasn't pretty and perfect. I've cried for her reading of her pain. Many would give up and think that life was not worth living. I'm glad Rina did not and am so proud of the amazing woman she has become. Everyone should take the time to read her story and know that there is something on the other side of abuse, pain and suffering and that it can be yours.
