With no help in sight, could you make the hard choices? After risking everything, Grant and Leah Walton are finally reunited. But it’s no happy ending. As the reality of the situation dawns on their neighbors, the Waltons find themselves the subject of more than idle curiosity. Not everyone can be trusted. People they counted as friends now look at them with suspicion and fear. Faced with neighbors determined to take all they have, Grant and Leah prepare to leave. But strangers have other plans. If someone threatens all that you hold dear, could you fight back? In a world without enforcement, rules mean nothing. When a band of thieves turn a neighborhood disagreement into an all-out war, Grant and Leah must find the strength to not only fight, but survive. Not everyone will make it. The attack is only the beginning. Survive The Panic is book three in Nuclear Survival: Southern Grit, a post-apocalyptic thriller series following ordinary people struggling to survive after a nuclear attack on the Unites States plunges the nation into chaos.

Damned good read. Spoiler alert. This one starts with Grant Walker finally making it home and finding Leah his wife. Right now Oliver a nerdy geeky neighbor and friend is at his front door. The Community he lives in isn't on his side about anything. He and Leah have guns, ammo and food. Grant has a run in with Greg his biggest detractor. A blow hard who wants to be in charge. A Grant who couldn't care less who's in charge. He has and will go his own way.Leah is a nurse and is of the mindset that she has to help her neighbors. The first person she runs into is Greg. A Greg who quickly informs her he doesn't need her help so Leah goes on her way. Some of the houses are empty and no one really wants to speak with her. That's when she spots Greg's two boys trying to steal a propane tank from Susie another neighbor. Leah is armed with an air rifle and gets the tank back. She tells Grant what happened. Grant isn't surprised one bit and is fast coming to the conclusion that his neighbors are sheep easily swayed by the belligerent Greg. That night someone sets the pick up that Leah drove home on fire. Its one of the few working vehicle they have and Grant knows right away who set it on fire. Greg.Dan is another neighbor and this guy is a friend. He, Leah, Susie, Oliver and Grant attend a meeting to which they hadn't been invited. A man named Will is in charge. He's telling everyone to make a list of what provisions they have and they will all be collected at the meeting house so all can share. Leah asks questions and doesn't get very good answers. She is fast becoming aware that her neighbors are sheep just waiting for someone to tell them what to do. No way will Grant or Leah give up what they have to anyone.Once home Grant tells his friends and Leah that he thinks its time for them to leave. None of them want to leave. Leah is still convinced she can help and Susie says she has a garden and Grant tells her she won't be able to keep anything. Everything will be given over to the community.Grant finally gets his way and he and Dan head out to find working vehicles at a used car lot about twenty minutes away. While they are gone Greg comes to the door and demand Leah open up so they can inspect and take everything. Leah talks him into waiting a half hour. Thirty minutes later Greg and his three men come back only to be interrupted by the arrival of a huge truck and six men. Men who want every gun in the community and anything else they can take.So begins one damned fine read. This one has Grant, Leah, Dan, Susie, Greg, a Greg who will be killed, the masked raiders, a Grant and Dan who get back just in time, four dead raiders, a Grant who now has a truck, a Grant and his crew who load up, one of the neighbors who asks Grant who is going to defend them all now, a Grant who tells him he couldn't care less but it isn't going to be him, Grant and the others who pull out with the pick up and a car loaded with all their supplies and gear, the group that stops at a motel in Marietta and Grant who is ex Army using every skill he has to protect those with him to, stay alive and survive and a Leah who finds out she's a survivor. A Leah who is changed by death, wounds and a good husband. A Leah who will never doubt herself again nor will she hesitate to defend her self.Five Stars
