Description

EMP: Equipping Modern Patriots is a harrowing story of survival following the destruction of the electric grid and nearly every electronic device in the country. Can you imagine a world with no phones, no TV, no internet, and no way to access your bank account? Without the electric grid, there would be no lights, no heating or air conditioning in your house, no public water, and the sewer would likely back up into your home. Without modern vehicles or interstate trucking, the supermarkets would quickly run out of food and supplies. Unprepared, the government would be helpless to feed the masses and maintain order. Our humanity is questioned when survival of the fittest becomes reality. Jonathan Hollerman paints a vivid and disturbing picture of society falling apart after an Electromagnetic Pulse attack against our nation. This is not only a thrilling story, but offers practical life-saving advice for an imminent threat. If you enjoyed "Patriots" by James Wesley Rawles or "One Second After" by William Forstchen, then you will enjoy this story of survival.** 2nd Edition (Jan 8, 2014) has been professionally edited.

This is a great story. This is a great story in need of a good editor.By page 75, my brain was breaking from the typos. But I recommend the book, because it highlights some important ideas in disaster planning. Specifically:1) Keep your preps private (p 9)2) procedural recommendations (Chapter 3)3) equipment recommendations (pp 70-72)4) encountering hostile threats (pp 88-89)5) mental outlook (p 111)Along the way, there is some charming Pittsburghese-talk."main street media" p. 12using "as" in place of "because" or "since" p. 62, p. 120"things around the old hose always needed fixed" p. 74"I haven't drank that much" p. 87"make the day to day decisions that will need made"" p. 193"I'm sure you'll do what needs done." p. 254"any major deicsion that need addressed" p. 344The build up to the story (p. 6) uses the false reporting after Hurricane Katrina to explain the need for disaster planning, p. 6 By the publishing date in 2013, we all knew that the media made up most of the accounts of horrible human behavior in the Katrina disaster. Given the facts on the ground, the ftermath of the Katrina disaster is more a codemnation of media ghouls than a proper analysis of how to prep.Note to editor: need a list of edits?page 52, line 3: should be "taut" not taughtpage 62, line 1: should be "since" not aspage 89, line 12, hould be they're not theirpage 94, line 18, fix "very closely together"page 102, line 8: "pedalling" not peddlingpage 104, line 11 and 13: "pedalling"page 139, line 1: "sight" not sitepage 144, line 28: emergedpage 152, line 5: "sights", not sitespage 159, line 3: at the start of the book, Maria is 14 months prenant.
